Scrum was first referred to in “The New New Product Development Game” by Takeuchi and Nonaka. The first use of Scrum in a software development context was started by Jeff Sutherland at Easel Corporation in 1993, who worked with Scrum Co-Creator Ken Schwaberg to formalize the Scrum development process. Scrum is a framework for develping complex products and system . It is grounded in imperical process and control theory. Scrum employs an iterative and incremental approach to optimize predictability and control risk . The aim of Scrum is to provide a framework for being agile in product development or on project work, i.e. discrete pieces of work that either have a fixed end-date or (sometimes) a fixed scope. Scrum is usually most useful in environments of complexity, uncertainty and/or change volatility. Scrum Methodology is an agile process that allows us to focus on delivering the highest business value in the shortest time. It allows us to rapidly and repeatedly inspect actual working software (every two weeks to one month). The business sets the priorities. The teams are self-manage to determine the best way to deliver the highest priority features.

Scrum defines three roles for its projects:
a product owner, a Scrum- Master, and a development team. Together, these three roles make up the Scrum team. In very broad terms, the product owner determines what will be built, the development team decides how to build it, and the Scrum Master ensures that the development team and product owner are able to do these things.
